April Showers in the south

Today a ridge of high pressure over Yukon brings a drying trend over northern half of BC. Meanwhile, a trough of low pressure approaches the south coast spreading moderate precipitation across the region. The trough moves across central BC on Friday allowing light precipitation to continue over the southern half of BC. Northern BC and the Yukon continue to be relatively dry under a ridge.

The 500 mb animation above shows an upper low moving eastward across northern BC bringing precipitation and unsettled conditions to central and southern BC. An upper ridge over Yukon brings a drying and clearing trend to northern BC on today through Friday. Meanwhile, a broad trough approaches the south coast and spreads precipitation and unsettled conditions across southern BC. Late Saturday and going into Sunday, a more prominent upper trough moves onto the BC coast and brings widespread precipitation to the province.
