This section contains information related to current issues with respect to Occupational Health and Safety Regulation in BC.

A reminder to all employers that while regulation 4.1.1 has been suspended to allow for further regulatory review, avalanche risk assessments and safety plans are still needed for this winter. For more information on the regulation and requirements of employers, please refer to the Update on WorkSafeBC 4.1.1 Regulations September 1, 2011.  You will find this document in the right hand side bar. We will update you on next steps as we receive more information from WorkSafeBC.

WorkSafeBC has recently announced its Release for Consultation of the 2012 Proposed Amendments to the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation. The document has amendments to Part 11 - Fall Protection that should be reviewed, concerning permanent anchors. There is, however, no movement yet on addressing the issue of CE/UIAA certified fall protection equipment. This document can be found by following the link to the right.

For more information on the 2012 amendments, please contact WorkSafeBC directly.
