Mission Statement
The Canadian Avalanche Foundation is a federally registered charity (#86900 0349 RR0001) formed to provide financial support to public avalanche information, education and research.

CAF Origin
The Founding members of this Foundation pursued the incorporation of this charity to provide a tax-deductible fundraising mechanism for the support of public avalanche safety initiatives.  The Foundation was incorporated under the laws of Canada in May, 1999.

Relationship to the Canadian Avalanche Association and Canadian Avalanche Centre

The Canadian Avalanche Foundation is an entirely separate entity from the Canadian Avalanche Association and the Canadian Avalanche Centre.

  • The Canadian Avalanche Association serves and supports the diverse community of professional avalanche operations in Canada.
  • The Canadian Avalanche Centre serves as Canada’s national public avalanche safety organization.
  • The Canadian Avalanche Foundation is a federally registered charitable foundation formed to provide a tax-deductible fundraising mechanism for the support of public avalanche safety initiatives.

Activities of the Canadian Avalanche Foundation
The activities of the Foundation include fundraising and granting of funds in support of public safety initiatives. The Foundation does not engage in any operational activities other than those related to fundraising, granting, and the required administration.
