If you are a snowmobiler who ventures into avalanche terrain, consider signing up for an Avalanche Skills Training course. You will find a list of providers on our website here. If you would like an introduction to sledding safely in the backcountry, come out to one of the CAC-sponsored, two-hour safety seminars listed below. You can also check out Avalanche Awareness Days, Backcountry Avalanche Workshops, presentations at the western Canada snowmobile tradeshows, Patterns of Prevention seminars, or events hosted by our sponsors, snowmobile manufacturers, and community partners (see attachments on the right side of this page).

Snowmobile Shows:
In the fall of 2012, the CAC Snowmobile Outreach team was at the All About Snow Show in Abbotsford, the Ride Alberta Snowmobile & ATV Show in Edmonton, the Saskatchewan Snowmobile Show in Saskatoon and the Vernon Snowmobile Show. We had success in that we reached 10s of 1000s of people through these events. We hope this transfers to more snowmobilers taking AST courses; that those who have taken the AST 1 course will consider the AST 2 course; and that those who have never taken a course sign up for either an AST 1 or the Companion Rescue Skills course. Check out this link for a list of providers in your region.

Backcountry Avalanche Workshops
We are planning a Backcountry Avalanche Workshop road tour in northern BC and the S. Coast. Check back for more details (dates and venues) in the fall. Please see the Backcountry Avalanche Workshop page for the detailed schedule.

Looking for an avalanche outreach event in your community?
The CAC presents at various events throughout the winter season. If you are interested in having an avalanche outreach event in your community please contact us. We may have a forecaster or outreach personnel in the area. If not, we are requesting cost recovery from the community or organization that makes the booking. Each event is looked at individually to estimate costs.
