The 2013-14 Backcountry Avalanche Workshop (BAW) road tours will be targetting northern BC and the coast/Vancouver Island this fall.

Sponsored by Columbia Brewery, the BAW is a free, 2-hour, evening presentation delivered by a CAC forecaster on avalanche awareness open to any backcountry recreationist. This is a great pre-season tune-up where you can refresh your skills or learn new ones. Please check back as the schedule (venue, dates and times) will be updated through the season.

The BAW northern tour starts this week. This is what people who attended the southern tour had to say:

  • "Excellent presentation! It will encourage people to take an avalanche course." Courtenay, BC
  • "Informative and well balanced. Super! Bring on the snow!" Courtenay, BC
  • "Very informative. A great refresher and well worth the time. I appreciated the interactive route-finding exercise" Courtenay
  • "A good reminder to stay up to date with avalanche rescue and prevention techniques" Squamish
  • "It was very interesting and informative with great examples and visuals" Vancouver UBC
